Beers, a surveyor, published dozens of local atlases in the decades from 1860 to about 1880. The large, beautiful maps from this atlas, which actually covers New York City, Westchester County, and Fairfield County, Connecticut, are unique. Featuring original, pastel hand coloring, the maps depict towns, districts, rivers, reservoirs, roads, stores, factories, businesses, schools, churches, property owners by name -- in short, an abundance of local history not replicated anywhere else.
