Johnson's New Military Map of the United States
Description
A beautiful example of this important Civil War-era map of the United States, published by Johnson and Ward in 1864. The map shows the various forts and military posts around the country, based on data from the War Department. It also shows insets, surrounding the map, of nine Southern harbors. In addition to military posts, the map depicts individual states and major topographical features.
Oklahoma is depicted as 'Indian Territory,' and a huge Montana stretches to the Canadian (British Possessions) border. Beautiful color, and an extremely fine example all round. Send to friend
