A scarce, hand-colored Augustus Mitchell pocket map published in 1850, sold by Thomas, Cowperthwait Company. Well-detailed mapping of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and part of New York State. Shows counties, towns, roads, railroads, rivers, lakes, coastal features, lighthouses, and more. Includes an inset plan of Boston that shows streets, buildings, wards, parks, and so forth. Original black cover present but detached. Some repair to the left edge of the map has caused very slight loss, but outside of the New England area, and not too distracting. Otherwise, and overall, very good condition. Just a few spots of foxing, and bright color.
