A fascinating, mid-19th Century map of the Caribbean, published in the New Universal Atlas by Thomas, Cowperthwait Company. Delicate shades of original pastel hand coloring adorn the map, which also includes a good deal of written information, including the various colonial powers and their subject islands. The islands are all clearly marked, and various towns and other topographical features are noted. In absolutely fine condition, which is very unusual for Cowperthwait maps of the era. Good margins all round, although image slightly cuts it off.
